"Home" transcends mere walls and roofs. Two short films explore the changing landscape of “home” through the eyes of Black Portlanders with the premiere of episode 2 of the award-winning series Where We Goin’ and the continuation of our Elder Anthologies series which features a moving letter from past Portland NAACP president Sharon Gary-Smith to the youth of the Rose City.

Where We Goin’ Episode II: The Power of Place follows art producer Intisar Abioto (Black Portlanders, Black Artists of Oregon) and Winta Yohannes of Albina Vision Trust the largest restorative redevelopment project in the country, we journey into the heart of neighborhoods once vibrant and thriving, now shadowed by a history of displacement and loss.

As they confront the harsh realities of gentrification and systemic injustice, these individuals band together to reclaim not just their physical spaces, but their cultural heritage and communal spirit. Through the poignant storytelling of director Devin Boss, & producers Zoe Piliafas, Elizabeth Stock and Donovan Scribes the films weave together personal narratives and collective memories, celebrating resilience and the unyielding power of home.

After the films, a compelling panel discussion will take place and the presentation of the Black Rose Laureate award to the esteemed photographer Richard Brown. Additionally, the original works of photographers Sai Stone and Elijah Hassan will be unveiled, showcasing their unique perspectives on the concept of home.
