Eroticism & Thrills of the 80s & 90s

The intersection of sex and danger was never highlighted as frequently on the big screen as it was in the 80s and 90s. In this class, we’ll use the golden age of the erotic thriller to discuss the social and personal factors that impact how sex is portrayed on film…and how it’s received by audiences. We’ll also go over iconic elements of the genre femme fatales, double-crossing schemes, and illicit affairs.

This class will be taught by Education Instructor MJ Jackson, who recently taught a four-week class on satirical works by Black filmmakers including BAMBOOZLED (2000) and AMERICAN FICTION (2023).
