Racial tensions simmer and boil over in the tiny Texas border town of Frontera in Rio County on the banks of the Rio Grande. The discovery of skeletonized remains dredges up a past that many in the town feel is best left forgotten, but Sheriff Sam Deeds (Chris Cooper) is determined to investigate.
Join us as we explore Writer/Director/Editor John Sayles’ film about borders, intertwined cultures, intergenerational trauma, and how the past influences the present. We’ll discuss the film’s subversion of both personal and national myth making.
The instructor for this class will be taught by MMU Instructor De, whose previous one evening class examined CRIMSON PEAK.
