Half Sisters: Turning Social Issues into Horror
Step into the shadows this Halloween season with a special Movie Madness University class that blends spooky thrills with sharp social commentary.
Led by filmmaker Devin Fei-Fan Tau, this three-hour session begins with an introduction and screening of his indie horror HALF SISTERS (2023, 78min). After the “trick” of uncovering the film’s layered social themes, students will join in an open discussion to “treat” these ideas with fresh insights. The night culminates in a spirited interactive challenge: pitch your own horror film concept based on a real-world social issue. Will your idea be a trick—or a treat? Come ready to watch, think, and play in this haunted workshop of horror and meaning.
This class will be taught by Portland filmmaker / producer Devin Fei-Fan Tau.
Class size will be limited to 18.
