Our Iconic Queer Ancestors: Holly Woodlawn
As one of THE iconic — and out! — transfemme stars of the 20th century, Holly Woodlawn lived as cinematically off-screen as she did on-screen — hellbent on unapologetic glamour, camp, and her own utterly unique brand of uncensored queer pleasure.
This class will trace her life, films, and her struggles in pursuing a film career amidst the transphobia of dominant culture. We’ll chart her growth into a trans elder, including her later collaborations with and impact on a new generation of trans filmmakers like Rhys Ernst and Zachary Drucker.
Join us to honor and celebrate this truly iconic trans artist and personality, and come make your offering to Holly, patron saint of grabbing life by the horns and exploding the gender binary!
