Serial Mom

A classic John Waters comedy, SERIAL MOM (1994, 95 min) follows a perfect suburban mom (Kathleen Turner), who finds happiness and delight in following her murderous desires. Those who don’t recycle properly or dare to wear white after Labor Day must accept their doom. The movie features humorous appearances from Law and Order’s Sam Waterston, Ricki Lake, Traci Lords, and Matthew Lillard, in his first credited role. 

In this class we’ll explore early 1990s fashion, the development of true crime, and celebrate a truly fun performance from Kathleen Turner. 

This class will be taught by Pamela Pierce, Assistant Professor at OHSU, and author of “Livin’ Like Jagger: The Hardcore Life of a Digitizing Librarian.”
