STEPHEN KING DOUBLE FEATURE
A Stephen King “Touchy-Feely” Double Feature.
The Dead Zone (1983) – After waking up from a five year coma, John Smith comes to discover he has the power of foresight. When touching another person, Johnny can see their future. He soon learns that these visions he is blessed/cursed with are potential futures and, through his own intervention, he can sometimes alter their courses and change their outcomes. This leads to a moral quandary for him and those around him, wondering where the line is between being obligated to help versus interfering in other people's destinies. Directed by David Cronenberg and starring Christopher Walken & Martin Sheen.
The Green Mile (1999) – Paul Edgecomb has seen all types of condemned prisoners during his time as a guard on Death Row, but never one like John Coffey. Not just because of Coffey's enormous size and strangely timid demeanor, but because Paul and the other guards on the Green Mile come to learn that Coffey has the miraculous power of healing through touch. As the guards get to know the kind-spirited Coffey better and see what he can do, they start to wonder how they can in good conscience carry out his execution as sentenced. Directed by Frank Darabont and starring Tom Hanks & Michael Clarke Duncan.
