Yi Yi

Yi Yi

YI YI (2000, 173 min) is Edward Yang’s final masterpiece that earned him Best Director at Cannes in 2000. This visually stunning film elegantly weaves the interior lives of a multigenerational, modern family in Taipei. Their quietly human stories are about innocence, love, death, difficult decisions, regrets, acceptance, revelations, and more.

This class will be taught by Jenny Lee whose previous classes include the films of Wong Kar Wai, Yasujiro Ozu, and Satyajit Ray.

Class will begin with a short lecture, followed by a screening of the film, after which an instructor-led discussion will take place.

Class size will be limited to 18.
