First Friday Artist Spotlight: Tom Skelly
Our First Friday Artist Spotlight returns with a gallery popup by local artist Tom Skelly!
Tom Skelly is a Portland visual artist and radio show host for The Sound of Pictures movie music
and soundtrack show at XRAY.FM. He continually finds wonder in the power of facial
expressions embedded in psychological ambience. They are intertwined through non-verbal
communication and body language.
The paintings in this exhibition are derived from freeze framed movie stills that carry his
message. The short videos are mostly made as promos for his radio shows.
The Sound of Pictures airs on-demand and streaming at XRAY.FM, and on the radio at 107.1 &

Since the mid-80’s, Tom Skelly’s art world includes studio arts & exhibiting, radio shows, and an
artist-in-residence gig for prisoners.
