Crash Course: Singles

Cost: $12 ($10 members)
Let’s rock Portland! Join us for a crash course on the Seattle classic SINGLES. This class will take a deep dive into the intersection of film and rock music. We'll discuss the film's coverage of the Seattle music scene, and how film can be used to capture a particular musical moment in time. We'll also cover live concerts in film, Cameron Crowe's background as a rock journalist, and the film's legendary soundtrack (featuring Paul Westerberg, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, and more).
The class will start with a screening of SINGLES, followed by a group discussion and listening party featuring music from the film.
MMU Crash Course classes offer a low-intensity way to explore a filmmaker or genre, in a friendly environment shared with fellow film lovers. Unlike our MMU seminars, Crash Courses offer a more casual approach. Films are curated and presented by staff experts.
This class is taught by Hollywood Theatre Development Coordinator (and resident metalhead) Madeline Criglow.
Class size will be limited to 18.
