Crimson Peak

Crimson Peak

Cost:  $22 ($18 members)

Thursday, May 1st

“It’s not a ghost story, it's a story with a ghost in it.”

What do you get when you combine a little bit of REBECCA with some JANE EYRE and a director known for his love of monsters? 2015’s CRIMSON PEAK is often considered one of director Guillermo del Toro’s rare missteps, yet it is one of his own favorites amongst his films. He has said “It needs an audience that wants to pay attention.”

In this class, we’ll talk about how ghosts, the gloriously horrible, and a grand old house make up this tale. We’ll consider how del Toro’s 4 pillars of filmmaking (directing, cinematography, production design, and costume) come together to create one of the best Gothic romances, maybe the best, ever to be put on screen.

This class will be taught by MMU Education Instructor De, who previously taught What is Costume, The Directrices, Worldwide Vampires, and Half Agony, Half Hope: Austen Adaptations of the 90s.

Class size will be limited to 18.
