The Last Temptation of Christ

The Last Temptation of Christ

Cost:  $22 ($18 members)

Monday, October 6th

THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST (164 min) sparked global controversy when it was released in 1988. Far more than just a controversy, the film is an insightful and informed exploration of gnostic Christianity, masterfully directed by one of cinema's true auteurs.

This class will examine the making of the film, the controversy it generated, and how it borrows from the banned books of the Bible from which early Christianity was built.

This class will be taught by Mark Russell, author and a comic book writer known for his work on DC and Marvel heroes such as Superman, Batman, and the Fantastic Four, as well as his work on titles like The Flintstones, Second Coming, and Not All Robots.

THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST is presented in partnership with the Northwest Museum of Cartoon Arts.

Class size will be limited to 18.
